Boorabbin bushfires inquest – DEC reports

On 20 November 2009, the State Coroner handed down his findings and recommendations from the Boorabbin inquest. DEC documents and reports that were submitted to the Coroner are now publicly available for downloading below.

Environmental Stakeholder Advisory Group Advice – Role and structure of the EPA

The Minister for Environment has received a report from the Environmental Stakeholder Advisory Group on the role and structure of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), as reflected in recommendation 10.4.3 of a report by the EPA in March 2009 titled "Review of the Environmental Impact Assessment Process in Western Australia". The Environmental Stakeholder Advisory Group report is now publicly available.

The Environmental Stakeholder Advisory Group was established by the Minister in June 2009 to provide her with advice on specific environmental matters.

 

Environmental Community Grants awarded

Environment Minister Donna Faragher has awarded more than $1.5 million to groups and individuals in the first round of funding under the State Government’s new Environmental Community Grants Program.

The program was introduced in recognition of the enormous contribution community-based organisations make to protecting the State’s environment and conserving the nature of WA.

More than 280 applications were received and, of those, 140 projects were funded in the first round of the grants program.

Regulation Review - Clearing of Native Vegetation

The Minister for Environment has received a report of the review of the legislation, administration and policy relating to the clearing of native vegetation. The report, Regulation Review - Clearing of Native Vegetation is now publicly available. The review committee has made recommendations on the implementation of the regulatory framework and decision making processes for the clearing of native vegetation in Western Australia.
